Gears of War 3: The New Weapons part 2

The Vulcan Cannon

The Vulcan Cannon is a COG weapon. Widely used during the Lambant Invasion. During an interview Cliff Blezinski said he “didn’t want to get into it that much.” when asked about the Vulcan Cannon. This lead some people to believe that there is something special about it.

What is currently know is that it’s a 2 man weapon (requires “2 players to operate correctly”, I guess you can use it with 1 person as a static weapon – almost like a turret.), 1 man to carry the gun mowing down Locust like there is no tomorrow, the other to follow behind with the ammo box.

The Multi-Turret

This is a Locust invention, built and manned by the Savage Grenadier in the light of their missing Troika turrets. This is a turret where you can mount your own weapons, I have hear that you can mount 3 but I can’t confirm that.

You can mount whatever you can find onto this thing, be it shotguns, lancers or boomshots. Another benefit is that the mounted weapons fire simultaineously meaning you can create some devastating combinations: for example a machine gun/explosives combo, now that sounds dangerous!

Sawed-Off Shotgun

The Sawed-Off Shotgun bears no blue lights like the other COG weapons and it is definitely not a Locust gun so it may be a Stranded gun. It has a very short range, even shorter than that of a Gnasher. It is also more powerful than a Gnasher. This was added to the Gears universe because Cliff Blezinski wants to embrace the shotgun (having been slated for the play style the shotgun created in previous Gears multi-player modes.) and offer more of a choice when it comes to standard load-outs in multi-player modes.

You may have seen the Sawed-Off in the Ashes to Ashes trailer where Marcus uses it to both kill a Drone and fire on another enemy’s tentacles at once. In the trailer it was shown firing multiple shots despite the in-game gun only having a 1 shot per reload capability. This was later confirmed as “creative license” and will indeed only have 1 shot per reload,

If you have the “Veteran Gear” achievement in Gears of War 2 then you will be gifted a golden Sawed-Off.
